Dropped Calls

Oct 4, 2008, 2:04 PM
Even after upgrading the phone software to 2.1 , I am still experiencing dropped calls.

Apple already replaced the phone but that didn't fixed the issue. 👿

I live in Utah and have had the same issue, I had a Blackberry Curve before this POS iPhone and had no problems ever not even one dropped call, now I drop calls hourly. I thought maybe it was the phone so apple exchanged it for me, then I thought maybe it was thr sim card so I also got that changed out and that has done nothing. I have done a full backup and restore several times and nothing. I am in the greater salt lake city area and I can be sitting at lunch in a full service area when all of a sudden I drop a call, very frustrating when you spend as much as we do!

so true. i actually work for AT&T and i will agree that AT&T sucks. they don't even have coverage here where i work. odd......anyway it's more of the iphone. the iphone is absolute garbage and is comparable in quality to a nokia brick phone. they actually do have a known issue of

a. dropping calls
b. poor reception
c. prongs on the charger breaking off in the wall socket
d. poor 3g reception (this is more of AT&T's fault because the coverage map for 3g voice is TERRIBLE. even in NYC which is where most of my calls used to come from)

if you guys have a chance to take it back within the 30 days. DO IT.

Oh please.
I can't believe that you work for AT&T and you're coming in to gripe about your own carrier's phone!

And to try to say that it's more the iPhone is retarded. If you work for AT&T you know that they are the WORST about dropping calls.. GSM in general is crappy about that.

The prongs on the charger was a factory defect in a small percentage of the chargers.. defective products are discovered EVERY DAY.

I'm not an apple "fangirl," but you can't blame your crappy company's reception on a phone.

BTW..I should know. I carry one.

In terms of California, cell service out there is Horrible, especially with Verizon. I went out there a while back and couldn't get a signal to save my life, and when my friend contacts me and is driving through Brentwood (sic?) I can hear maybe two to three words at in a sentence because he is breaking up.

The reception out there is horrible, and in terms of the iphone, you get what you pay for, they didn't improve on much from the first phone, what makes people think they are going to have better reception, that is why I have bought unlocked SE phones, SE and Nokia just make better phones.

I live in St Paul, MN and my friends and colleagues are are already sick of their calls to me being dropped on a regular basis.. I can't decide if 2.1 improved the dropped calls issues.
Having said that, I truly believe it is an iPhone issue since AT&T has a superb coverage in St Paul and I rarely got any dropped calls before I switched to iPhone.

Had my Palm for a year now with Sprint and not one dropped call. I talk while driving, I talk going up the elevators at work, I even talk when I have no bars, talk while texting, and i use about 2500min a month thanks to nights at starting at 6 and unlimited Sprint 2 Sprint n still great call quality down to the last cell. 😎

I live in the Greenwich CT area and

1-- the ATT 3G service map is a total lie -- there is zero service in major parts of this important financial community -- I have NEVER gotten a 3G signal since I got the phone in July

2 -- last week I was in Boston and had 11 dropped calls in 3 hours, and then had 6 dropped calls driving back to CT.

ATTs service is abyssmal. I called 4 times and they always say they'll check and clal back and never do.

I'm filing a lawsuit in small claims for a refund of my monthly charges on grounds that their map is a fraudulent misrepresentation. I recommend the same

Push ATT that you don't pay until they deliver what they promise in their maps and service agreements.

Yes thank you...I get so tired of ATT Iphone fanboys telling me that i dont know what i am talking about when i say that ATT and the iphones service is complete crap. Its good to hear that a few people out there arent so fooled by the iphone and ATT and actually stand up a say hey this sucks

I have ATT service in Lansing, michigan and I am definitely not a fanboy of anything. The only problem I have with reception is either a: when Im in a basement and even then its not that bad and b: when I am in my townhouse which is surrounded by big ass pine trees and again if I put the phone near a window its not bad (I get 3G service). I am buying an Iphone this week and will let you guys know how it turns out. I will agree with someone who made a comment on here earlier. SonyEricsson phones are the best. Now if theyd only make a handset as cool as the Iphone....

I have had Verizon, Sprint and now ATT. Out of the three ATT is the only one that has consistently been dropping my calls.

I am ready to file a complaint with the FCC. Their Ads promise the best coverage with the least dropped calls. This is a lie.

I pay good money to have their service and that is going to stop.
