1. i was wondering if this plan would work to get myself out of getting charged for the 30$ data plan. In a month i am going to go to at&t and say i lost my phone and tell them to take the data plan off.
2. Now, i've heard even without the data plan the iphone 3g has automatic updates which use the internet. i was also wondering if there was anyway to turn this feature off, so i could never be on the internet unless i wanted to (sounds weird). Advice on either of these would be helpful, thank you.

If the iPhone is the registered IMEI on the account..the number will either be suspended or you will continue to have the $30 charge.

The IMEI=Serial Number
AT&T has the phone's serial number listed with your SIM card under your account.
If what they say is true, when your SIM card reads the phone or when you sync with iTunes, the account will automatically have the internet added on. I don't know the truth in that.
I do know that you cannot use basic phone internet with any type of PDA, iPhone included. You could end up with large bills that way..and they won't be nice and waive them if they see you trying to skirt around the system.

Word.
🙄
Hey kokid..you really need to do a bit more research if you're going to attempt to skirt around the data requirements.

Honestly why even get the I phone then? Get a I pod touch instead.

If you take the data off your account will have pay per use data and your bill will be huge. Have fun with that.
