Only 300 charges on the battery

I was looking into buying the new iPhone 3G and was worried about the battery life as I heard about so many problems with the last one. I called Apple directly and was speaking to a rep who informed me the average lifetime expectancy of the new iPhone 3G's battery was only 300 charges! What? So you mean to tell me on such a "great" invention that if I were to charge my phone up every night that it would only last 10 months?

On top of that, since the battery is not removable it may mean that I have to buy an entirely new phone just to get a working battery. She did tell me that if I paid the extra $70 for the warranty that they "may" be able to fix it. What a joke!
