Disappointed

I need to get a new phone and have been holding out for the iphone. After hearing more about it--I am thinking of just getting a BB Curve. It seem like the iphone has a way to go--maybe next year. No video capture, no cut and paste, no universal search for items or terms, no memo program. These are critical in order to conduct business. Also, no turn by turn directions on GPS. I am disappointed to say the least.

I didn't know video capture was critical to conduct business.

Have fun with the Curve.

2X the features, please do elaborate, lol. I'm not hating, I just enjoy watching fanboy wars and rants. It's really quite cute.
Honestly as a guy that does some of everything for my office, but not on my phone, there would be 3 dealbreakers if I was to use an iPhone for business.
1) No cut and paste (my biggest E-Mail friend, lol)
2) No (easily) user replacable battery. My laptop has 2 batteries, I feel a work phone should have the same option
3) No MMS. I need QUICK access to pictures and sending them to global co-workers. During a tele-conference, sending a picture is worth way more than talk.

For those without those needs, have fun. For those with those needs, wait for something that covers all needs well. Pretty much everything i...

Video capture is not as important to his business as it it to putting down the new iPhone. Nothing new here.

From what I can see you can get fast access to pictures and the battery issue is an Apple store away. You can just take the phone to the Apple store and they will replace it. They will only send it away if the battery you need is not in the store. The reason for that is it is faster to over night it and have it replaced at the main R&D site instead ordering the battery and waiting for it to arrive to replace it. Also if video capability is a deal breaker you have problems.

Where do people come up with this BS? I want you to specifically name each feature the iphone has that a new Blackberry Pearl or Curve doesn't have. Lets see if you can name twice the features as you claim.

Come on don't waste your time you can't do it. I could care less about the iphone I'm sure its a nice phone but stop F-ing blowing it out of proportion already. Its a f-ing phone with a great internet browser and a very nice UI not really much more.

Video capture is not essential to business, the other features are, but video capture is helpful for other purposes.

Gee, I wonder what those other "purposes" are. You'll be wishing you had the iphone when the BB server "goes through updates".

Hey Patrioticgal,
I'll take a Bold or curve any day over the Chinese made lemon iPhone. My wife and I went through 7 iPhones and never got through the issues and lack of features and support, let alone poor reception, dismal speaker phone, no MMS, no cut & paste.... Keep your iPhone toy.

WS... you assume that the OP is a business man who sits at a desk, maybe or maybe not. I'm in an industry that may have different requirements than you. I've used both the curve and the iPhone (my current phone).

Boulderboy, not everyone had the problems that you did. My iPhone has been nothing but outstanding for me. Its just like when you have a great car and your next door neighbor bought the same model and it was always in the shop. Doesn't mean they're all bad.

I guess I just wanted to add everyone has different needs, wants and experiences. Blanket critiques mean nothing.

I don't think anyone can argue that the iphone has the edge in internet capability and multimedia,(even without video capture) and I love the internet, but it is unexplainable why the new iphone does not have cut and paste and universal search and turn by turn GPS directions.

Well you can get directions on GOOGLE, and if you use Windows Live with GPS it gives turn by turn.

I think if you tinker with it enoug you could get it to work, you just have to play with the options.

I guess if I stand on my left leg and raise my right arm holding the iphone high in the air and hop a bit down the street, I may get it to work. Or I can just buy a BB Curve and have it work right out of the box.

So you want to use the iPhone 3G to capture video... The Curve doesn't capture video either, only the Pearl II. Also, there is a memo-type program on the iPhone 3G. It's called notes. Theres no universal search on it, but why would you need one? Just press the home button and it shows you everything on your phone; with the Blackberry you have to blindly struggle to find things on the OS, yes, so this deems a universal search necessary. However, I do agree with you as far as the cut&paste, that would be nice. Overall, the iPhone is a great device, you'd love it.

I've never used the search on my blackberry. The aps I use have been moved to the top of my desktop. I also don't see how you blindly struggle to find things. It's all laid out in a logical way. Just my opinion, though.

All that I'm saying is that it's alot more difficult for a first time user to pick up a blackberry and feel comfortable using it than what an iPhone is. I understand blackberry and have no problems with them but I think the points being made to decide between the 2 devices are not substantial enough to say that the blackberry is a better choice.

The people who can't figure out a blackberry, aren't going to know what to do with an iPhone either, though. Plus...could you imagine responding to a long email on that thing? My fingers ache just thinking about it. I'd end up throwing it out the window. Serious.

Agreed, it'd be difficult either way, but it's alot easier to learn on the iPhone. And I thought the iPhone keyboard would suck horribly bad at first too, and until you get used to it, it does. Once you do though, I guarantee you can type out an email faster on an iPhone than even the most proficient Blackberry user. Really; even if you just borrow an old one from someone, I think you'd be surprised at how nice it really is.

this is the thing... I am neither an iPhone or BB fanboy... I just buy a dang phone that works for what I want it to work for...

as far as all you saying bb is better or iphone is better so be it, but the big pic is we are human... we are different thus making us like different things... so this or that... fanboy or not both bb and iphone are great in their own way and great for the person who such as me likes the iphone better for I'm more iphone based usage... my wife is more business and so she has a bb... I love her phone... she loves my phone, but in all practical purposes it's a dang phone...

you idiots make this into a political debate and not even those get this bad sometimes...

so u bb & iphone fanboys give it a rest... ...
