So if I buy a new iphone and 3 months later, I loose it or just dont wont it anymore, can I cancel just the data part and still keep the voice part or am I on the hook for the data for the whole two years?

Just a guess, but you'll probably have to stay with the DATA plan. Same thing that Sprint is doing with the instinct. Truthfully, it's stupid to not have the DATA plan, to many people would wind up with large casual use charges. If you wont use the phone to it potential, find a phone that you will. No sence in having a phone that you pay money for that you hardly use.

YOU ARE CONTRACTED INTO THE DATA PLAN FOR THE LENGTH OF YOUR CONTRACT

If you lose your Iphone or you just choose not to use it anymore and actually move on to a different phone, you CAN CHANGE YOUR DATA PLAN. You can either remove it completely or you can change it to one that is appropriate for your new phone, AT&T does not extend your contract if you change anything on your plan and I can assure you that they do not lock you in for 2 years on your data plan. I work for AT&T, not sure where the others are getting it that you have to keep it but if you are not using the phone you will not have to remain on the data plan! 🙂

Thanks for the info, I know for sure that on the first iphone you did not have to keep the data, I had the first one and sold it, called and had the data removed with no problem. with the new one being a sub phone I was not sure.
