Texting from the front screen...

Aug 15, 2008, 12:29 PM
Just wondering before buying the phone... If I receive a text can I read it without opening the phone? And if so... Can I also reply? I'm sure it is mentioned in this forum but couldnt find anything.

Yes, you can view and reply on the front screen. You can set the mode too. I.E ABC Abc abc or TTY.

Yes you can read it and reply without opening the phone.

I just wish they would add the ablity to read "Sent Messages" to the "Messaging Menu" accessible from the front screen! Right now, it's just 1. New Message or 2. Inbox (x/y).

Yes, some messages can be read from the outter screen. Some CANNOT though. If the message includes an image, such as the animated LG faces or some of the other preset pictures, the outside screen will prompt you to open the phone to view the message. Same goes for video and pix messages. The outside screen can only display normal text.

If you can view the message from the outside without being prompted to open the phone, you can indeed reply with standard text with the phone closed. If you want to insert anything special into the message, such as animated faces, sounds, pix, whatever, you must open the phone to do it. So yes you can send messages from the outside keypad, but only text. Everything else must be done from inside.

I don't own this phone, even though I wish I did, but my mom does. How do you get this phone to read the text to you so I can tell her? I think she would really like that feature.
