Can you text on a Motorola Q9m if you do not have a data package?
I really only need these features: phone, texting and calendar.
Would like the larger calendar that a smart phone offers but don't need the data package.

As long as you have a text package you can text away. It has the option to switch between text message and email. Its a great phone
