The menu speed seems to be adequate. I had a Samsung A920 before and its menus were just plain flaky. They seem pretty fast to me. If you have a Sprint store near you they usually have a demo phone out where you can make calls and play around with it.

The text messages do display on the outside which is quite nice. I have not been able to see what happens with multiple unread messages though. When you open the phone it will display the text message and give you the option to reply. I have found, however, if you just close the flip it still considers the message as new. This kind of annoys me. There may be a way around it that I just have not found yet. Hope this info is of some use..
