I have given up and given in!
Yesterday, my store manager received notice that release has been delayed another week to 10/29. At that point, she showed me the Tilt and I bought it. Not what I want, I want the Q, but it is what exists. If they get the Q in 30 days, I'll switch. If they don't get it in 30 days, my guess is they never will within a reasonable time and so I have a good phone. I just don't like settling. It goes against the grain.

At this rate I would say, thats the way to go. I am willing to wait since I am not on ATT but my patience is very thin on this. Motorola should just start selling it unlocked so others don't have to wait any longer.
Unless there is some really special or otherwise super super cool reason for the delay (which there isn't) it has made no sense to anyone waiting (trolls need not apply).
One of my colleagues just picked up a pair of Tilts for herself and her husband they are really enjoying them. I can say the quality is there and I may also just hip on this if they don't move it soon.

I have the Tilt and if the Q lands before the 5th of Nov, (30 return period expiration) I'll get the Q because it's more the size and type I want. However, having the Tilt is making the wait a little easier to handle. It's a SOLID piece of hardware and the GPS is the best I've used.
