No Blackberry Maps for Cingular?

Looks like Cingular is blocking Blackberry Maps on the 8800 and only supporting TeleNav.

Since the 8800 comes with a built in GPS, why not allow the Blackberry Maps software to run? The reason is probably to get you to pay a monthly fee for TeleNav.

If you buy the Pearl from t-Mobile, you ge the application, but no internal GPS. So you have to pay there too.

Does anyone know how to get MAPS onto the 8800 from Cingular? If it's not possible, what "free" map software is there that can run? I have MS Streets, but ti is not Blackberry compatible.
