Ok, here is the situation. I am at work with no battery. I brought my USB and iphone docking station to recharge my phone when I got here.

I'm running windows 2000 - so I cant download and install itunes (it says it requires xp or vista)...

When I plug everything, It doesn't recharge. it tries to search for a driver, in the cd rom drive or wants me to specify a folder.. It doesn't give me the option to search online?

Is this a joke? I can't recharge my iphone? please help? Am I missing something?

Umm... use the wall charger adapter that comes with it. It's not the iPhone that's the issue it's that iTunes 7.5 is not compatible with 2000.

Or you can upgrade to XP or Vista.

unfortunately I didn't bring the wall charger plugin with me to work, just the loading dock ... figuring that would be sufficient.

So I take it I need itunes in order to charge my iphone if I want to plug it into my computer?

apple is amazing... Its the company that you love to hate.

Well....

Did you try just leaving it alone, period?

It's not Apple, it's your computer. For some reason, it's not letting power run from the usb to the iPhone.

If I put my iPod into a computer, my dell, and "eject" the iPod, but don't unplug it, it's still charging.

It's your computer. Ask around for a laptop, or a newer computer. You don't need iTunes to charge your iPhone.
