I have itunes on my pc however i have never registered with apple. In fact I only use it for saving my songs from cd and then put on my ipod. I understand that in order for the iphone to be synced your itunes must first be registered.

My question: Once I register my itunes will I lose my previous music? Will the iphone only support music PURCHASED from itunes or can I still hear my cd collection on the iphone?

your music will not be deleted, creating an itunes account simply links the music store and itunes with your credit card, debit card, or paypal. You can import any CD to itunes and then upload it to the phone very easily as well
