MediaNet Settings
After spending 45min on the phone with Technical Support, I discover the obvious: Cingular has no idea how to configure settings on this phone. I get internet access (albeit slow), but cannot connect to MediaNet.
here's what I have set so far:
Connection/GPRS/Media NEt:
Connects to Internet
Access Pt: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Primary DNS/Secondary DNS/IP Address all blank
Connection/GPRS Authentication:
Set to CHAP
Proxy:
Connects From: WAP Network
Connects TO: Internet
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com:80
Type: WAP
username/password are blank
This gets me error msg: Internet Connection Not Configured Properly when trying to connect to Media Net. Also, cant find Cingular Music and...

what is your homepage...i find it always works if homepage is htto://device.home I know that is the medianet home page but just saying that if you ever try to go to a different page to start that it takes forever to start on the inet. Also, are you using a medianet plan or PDA connect/smartphone plan?

you have your proxy connections switched. make it connect from "the internet" and connects to "WAP network". that should solve your problem. keep in mind cingular video will only work with new MediaMax plans. if anyone knows otherwise, please let me know as i am on a grandfathered Media Works package

I tried this and it didn't work. I can connect to the internet, but not to media net. Same error message as original poster.

I just tried that on mines too, IE works just like you said but can also get to medianet
I'm only on the $20/200medianet pkg since I went from my Razr to BJ and didn't give Cingy my new IMEI number. So to them I am still on my Razr

What if you buy the phone from Cingular? don't they then have the IMEI? also..do you need a different sim for this phone?

you need at least a 64k sim but some will say you need the new 3G sim. All you have to do is change it online, nothing else matters. If you want to call cingular, then tell them you arent using the bj anymore, you went back to a plain cell phone, then they cant deny you media net plans.
