Specific BlackBerry e-mail question...

Hi all, Happy New Year.

I am in the process of doing some smart phone research before I make the plunge into the world of BlackBerries and Treos, and I've got a question:

I typically use Outlook on my laptop to send and retrieve e-mails. In Outlook, there are many actions that can be taken when receiving messages from various recipients. For example, when I receive a message from an important client, Outlook gives a distinctive ring, and then these messages are placed in a specific folder. All other e-mails have the standard ring – or, if I like, I can opt to turn off the ringer altogether. Yes, you can certainly setup filters through the web client or your wireless sync settings. You also have the ability to set certain messages to arrive as "level 1" which means you will be notified differently from your normal notification. Normal notification can be a tone (there are many to chose from), vibrate, or simply a flashing red light. The good thing about the BB is it has lots of options, so I am sure you can customize it to meet your needs. Hope this helps.

What do mean by "set up filters thru the web client"...? Does that mean that the filters that are already set up in Outlook on my desktop will/can apply to my settings in the BB?
