The MP3 file cannot exceed approximately 600KB. The actual length of the MP3 song is negligible considering that if you must shrink the size of the MP3, you would at least like to retain the sound quality. I use a program called Cool Edit. It's a fairly older program, but versitle and easy to use. Initially, I tried to degrade the sound quality to capture the entire song as a ringtone, but the quality was extremely poor due to bringing an average 5MB MP3 file to 600KB. From there, I came to the conclusion that I would simply use the editing program to crop my favorite portion of the MP3 song and retain the sound quality as well. So far, I've been able to preserve 39 seconds of playback with the MP3 reta...
