what is the deal on this phone...when is it coming out...and why is it alreasy out for cingular and not verizon...?

From what I believe, the RAZR was supposed to be a GSM phone, however due to its huge success CDMA models are being made to attract more business to CDMA. That is why Verizon is taking the phone. The reason why GSM phones are more prevalent is because GSM phones are cheaper to make. They're less complex than CDMA phones and require less powerful parts to make. It came out for Cingular first because Cingular is a GSM carrier while Verizon is a CDMA carrier. In my assumption, the immense success of it has lead Motorola to create the new, more expensive CDMA handset.

I was able to test out a CDMA Razr phone its quite a phone let me tell you. Its complexed you can change the pictures that come up when you turn the phone and and off you can also change that music. The phone book is the greatest part are the number selections are right there and you just go down and to select a main number you hit the upper left button instead of fiddling with these other options. Now i had a real deal one it wasn't through any specific service or anything so i don't know if Verizons software will change anything. I am sure it will limit capabilities like all phones but it will take them forever to limit the capabilities of this phone. I know how to get around phones pretty good but this one took a day or 2. Until the RAZ is similar in specs to this I'm staying put.
