E815 Camera - Bad pictures!

anishj

Jul 17, 2005, 9:43 PM
My pictures are blurry indoors and out, sometimes grainy, and the 4x zoom is completely useless, always a bad picture and out of focus!

I know there's a lot of people on this site who say that if you want a camera go buy one, but with the technology we have at our disposal today, why can't we have a decent camera in our phones. It's not like they don't promote the s#%t out of that feature, they sell it because we ultimately want a phone that does everything a phone should do and have it's second most prominent feature, the camera, work very well for us!

Please let me know if I just have a bad phone or if there are any tricks to improve the camera.

I would be glad to share a photo I took outdoors on my e815 if someone gives me the steps to post.

The pictures I have taken are not blurry. One thing to remember is you have to be very still with the phone when photo is taken. I have my res set on high. Everything else is automatic.

I have the same set up as you. I have experimented with low res, medium res & hi res, dark rooms, lighted rooms, outside up close and far away. The pics look just okay on the camera, but when I send them to my email address as an attachment you can see how bad they really are.

Look at the threads below this posting, seems like everyone is having issues with the camera. Maybe you were very lucky. I would love to post my pics, just don't know how.

Maybe check out a few at Verizon. I'm sure not everyone is having these problems. Maybe we can conduct a poll. Anyways, I hope you can check some out at Verizon and do an exchange. Sounds like there are just a few bad ones out. Sorry! ☹️

Thanks for the support, maybe I'll return it and wait a month or so for Moto to send out a new batch. Hopefully by then the other issues might get resolved too.

My pictures as well look great when i transfer from my transflash card to my computer. So I'm not sure what problems the others are experiencing. I know a problem before was dead pixels but it seems that problem has been fixed.

Well there are problems and I am telling there is . If I got the phone replacement that I have now I would doubt people like you are right now. I can send you a link to my old pics and new pics on flikr and you will see. What is the date on the box of your E815 and I am sure you have dead pixels they are hard to see in day light but if you are in a darker room you will see a few blue and red dots.

I have the same issue. I am going to VZW today to exchange the unit. Hopefully it will be better. They all look blurry. I tried standing still and still looks like crap maybe 30% better then the V710 camera. Do you have any dead pixels when taking pictures against a black background? I have some .

I called Moto, they referred me to a repair center of theirs to look at the phone. I'm going to try that before returning/exchanging it. No dead pixels that I can see. I actually think my LG 6000 produced better pics.

Just changed the camera today. I had all blurry pictures. The new one I got is more firm eventhough I still here a light shalow creek when holding on top of the OK button. the pics are much better!! I noticed also the battery cover is more flush with the case in the back on the buttom. Also the camera looks more recessed and the focus is much quicker. Definetly go and exchange it. the date on mine was 7-2-05 on the box. Not sure if that is the answer. I also didn't have Vcast and the other phone had it. once you go and exchange put the 2 phones together and click on the camera you should see a difference in the way it focuses.

well I would check the phone out first before changing. I couldn't tell how the pics would be when I had the phone at the kiosk but I could tell the battery cover was on better and the camera was more recessed.

I've only had mine for a day or two, but I can already say there is no comparision between the v710 and the e815 on camera quality. I'll post a few pictures that I took last night. The low light is so much improved and is even senstive enough now to pick up the light from the weak LED flash.

I'm going to buy the e815 today. I see that a the reviews of the camera are very varied. Is that because each particular phone is slightly different?

Should I ask the guy in the store to see several e815s, take pics with all of them, and then pick the best camera?

well you might not see the real picture till you email it. Look for a tight seal on the battery cover on the buttom closet to the speaker make sure there is no gap. Also the phone has to feel solid. I have noticed since the exchange the camera itself is more recessed then the original one. One thing you can do is put 2 phones next to each other and compare how quickly the focus adjusts. It should adjust quickly. YOu have 15 days to exchange or return it so you have some time to feel the phone for more issues if any.

Okay, I took my phone back and exchanged it for one that had a more recent production date on the box. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but after a few hours of use and a few pics, I am a much happier camper right about now! The camera seems to be much better and the phone doesn't creek. The volume is also good on this one. The jury is still out for a few days at least, but for right now this might be the camera, oops, phone I was looking for.
