Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood
Could we summarize the outstanding E815 issues here?
Please list ISSUES and not PREFERENCES (for example: don't like the styling vs not shipping with EVDO).
Great.

My earpiece sounds horrible. Can't adjust within the volume limits. Anything above volume 3 sounds broken and there seems to be a vibration. Almost like the speaker is powered by an amp with too much power???
Not on mine. Sounds like a landline; better than any cell phone I've had previously (V60s, LG VX4400, TimePort 8767, StarTAC, MicroTAC, Moto Bag phone).
So, you are telling me that you can turn the volume up past 4 and you don't get the "vibrational cracking" in the ear piece. The high tones don't get distorted?

I've had the volume all the way up and don't hear significant distortion. 4 is plenty loud enough for me, though.
Lucky you! Where did you buy your phone? Maybe I should buy it where you are! 🙄
I already cut the box to pull the UPC label for the MIR, but first chance i get going to get to a VZW store and do some comparisons.
The headset speaker on this one is horrible and now the Speakerphone is exhibiting issues i can do without.
Overall this IS a truly great feature-filled phone but someone's (Motorola?) quality control is highly suspect.
I set my "soft" alert to the "tada" ring tone, and set the volume low. The tada ring tone is very unintrusive So far, it's been a good work around. I guess nothing is perfect.
Can something be done about it?
I know you can purchase the vibration devices at www.Jameco.com (I saw them in their last catalog) but as to how you would go about upgrading the one in the phone without a little electronic finess is beyond me. I could probably do it but don't recommend anybody else try it without a little/alot of skill in soldering. A cold fusion soldering iron will work wonders though...
