Honest Input Please!

I am still trying out the LG VX6100 and need some honest input before my 2-weeks are up to return it. I tried the brand new LG phone that just came out in July and absolutely loved it. HOWEVER, I travel in some rural areas and didn't have service so I had to go to a phone that still has analog. Unfortunately, all the great phones are digital now and there aren't too many phones out there with analog. The rep recommended this phone. I wanted the Motorola V710, but it wasn't in stock and he said they had way too many problems with it -- always being returned. He told me the speaker worked with the phone closed, but I haven't figured it out yet. Does anyone know if there is a better phone for me?😁

Reception and New Software Version

Has anyone else experienced shotty reception with this phone? It will go in and out of Analog mode all of the time.... Had a Moto T720 and never had this problem. Always had reception on vaca down the Jersey shore, but around Philly the reception sucks.....

Is there and extendable stub for this puppy?
Also, does the new software version help this? I bought this phone a couple of weeks ago and VW swears it has the latest, v2, but I know v3 is the latest for the posts here.
Thanks for your help!

VX6100 Problem Sending Ringtones to Phone thru Email

Have a VX8000 and had no problem chopping 30 secs of a song using Audacity and converting to 64 or so kbps then emailing them to the phone, saving them and using them as ringtones.

My girlfriend just got a VX6100 and I tried to do the same. I sent the converted .midi file and it retrieves the msg but says either "failure to open pix message" (or something similar to that) or tells me that to "save" the file it needs to be under 30kb. Can anyone help me figure out how to do it via this method (e-mail)? (I may be getting a data cable and bitpim, but I want to figure out what's keeping it from working this way).

VX6100 and the Professionally Installed Car Kit

The professional install car kit for the VX6100 is available again, so I rushed to get it and got it installed. The only problem is that I cannot find a way to use a headset while (to keep conversations more private) while still using the car kit for the charging and the external antenna.

In other car kits I have had:

a) The phone attaches with a cable, you can "pick up" the phone while still charging and using the external antenna, and

b) Plugging in the standard headset overrides the speaker and just "works" as expected.

I realize that a) isn't possible due to the cradle design, but it seems like a software bug (I'm sure they will call it a feature) that the phone won't recognize the headset while plugged into the car kit.

VX6100 or keep my Audiovox 8900?

I want to upgrade and was thinking of getting the 6100. I of course have the 8900 so should I stick with my 8900 or is the LG way better than the 8900? and my upgrade is not until Aug 06 and I'm not the patient type so may just end up paying full retail for the phone is it worth it or should I just wait? Also when i get me a new phone I'm giving my mom my Audiovox.

Anyone had experience with the Moto V710?

I currently have the LG 6100, and have until Saturday to trade it in for something else. I used to have the 4400, so the interface is familiar. However, I believe my 4400 had better reception than the 6100. I would like to stick with a tri-mode phone, so my only other option would be the Motorola V710. Any opinions on whether the swap would be worth it?

I've finally decided to get the 6100. Is it a good phone over all. I just use it to talk, text message and take some pictures but not really to send them. Also can you tell me tri-mode and driving mode. I am just making sure I get the right phone. My other option is the audiovox 8910. Thanks 🙂

"File format not supported"

Can someone please help me? I just got my LG 6100 phone and the pictures I take (and even pics that came preloaded) cannot load on the phone. The gallery just displays various little cameras with an X through them. It doesn't show a thumnail. The pictures do not show when they are clicked on. When I try to send the pic as a pix message, i get error "file format not supported" for many of the images preloaded on the phone and all of the ones I supposedly saved using the camera.

ANY IDEAS??? Please help!!!

ringer through headset

I just turned in a non-funtioning 6100 for a new one, and the new phone has apparently lost some funtionality. With the old one, when a headset was plugged in and the speaker was "off", the ringer would come through the headset. WIth the new phone, whether the speaker is set to on or off seems to make no difference - the ringer always comes through the phone, and not the headset.

Anyone have expericence with this feature? Should turning the speaker on or off while a headset is plugged in have any effect?
