External Display: SMS
I've read a lot of posts about people having problems with reading text messages from the External Display. I have done some research into this problem and from what I have read, the problem is actually a firmware issue with the first batch of phones! There is a date code on the back. (i.e. 04W48 -- means it was manufatured on week 48 of 2004).
Phones with this problem may also malfuntion (freeze) and display a blue screen ( reminds me of Windows 95/98 ) which can only be reset by removing the back shell and battery.
You may want to check with Cing W. to see if you can replace the phone or send it in for the firmware update.

Thanks for doing the research. I love this phone, but I'm on my second one, because of the blue screen malfunction problem. The 1st I returned, but now my second one is experiencing the same problem.
Where can I confirm this information about the firmware issue, so when I talk to Cingular, I can direct them to the info? Thanks.

The latest firmware update available from Cingular/Sony Ericsson is R2A011. If this is the version you have, then you may just want to consider holding out for a few more weeks until the phone has been on the market for awhile and more people complain about the issue.
I would also recommend you call Sony Ericsson and infrom them about the issue you are having, the more people who do this, the more likely they are to develope a solution! The support number is: (866) 766-9374
Good Luck,

So you can actually read a text message from the external display of YOUR phone?? I have asked so many people about this and it seems that no one can, I know that I can't. And that was something that I am a little upset about, I really wanted that feature. Can I take(or call) my phone to a cingular store and will they exchange mine??

Well, I called the support number you provided and they said that there wasn't a high number of calls regarding the blue screen issue. He suggested that I take back the phone since I was still within the 30 day limit.
Went to Cingular, asked if many people were returning the phone because of the blue screen issue, and the lady answered no. She claims to have sold a bunch of these phones without a single person returning one. I told her it was odd that it's happened to me twice and asked if the problem was the sim card possibly. She said she doubts the sim card is the culprit, but she replaced the phone with a new one. Not even 2 hours had gone by, when the new phone froze up again with the blue screen. Keep in mind this is the 3rd phone. ...
