i would like to know if i should purchase this phone and how many pictures does it hold at one time?

depends on the picture quality, there are 3 different qualities. it holds at least:
165 in low
82 in medium
33 in high
I think these numbers might be a little off since i already have some pictures stored, but that should give you a good idea.

If you're talking about the a670, then at high resolution, you'llget about 45 pictures...at low resolution, you get 200.
