LG recently announced the Stylus 2 Plus, a more performance-minded version of the Stylus 2. The external chassis is identical to the Stylus 2, but the Plus boosts the 5.7-inch display resolution to full HD, improves the processor clock speed to 1.4 GHz per core, increases megapixel count to 16 for the front camera and 8 for the rear camera, and adds a front-facing flash. The phone will be sold in several RAM/storage configurations, including 2 GB/16 GB and 3 GB/32 GB. The phone has a 3,000mAh battery, LTE, and a fingerprint sensor. The Stylus 2 Plus runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The LG Stylus 2 Plus ships in Taiwan beginning today, but will reach North America in the weeks ahead.

LG Adds DAB+ to the Stylus 2

Mar 14, 2016, 7:37 AM   by Eric M. Zeman

LG today said the Stylus 2 smartphone will be the first phone to ship with support for DAB+ for digital radio broadcasting. The phone has a dedicated DAB+ chipset and special application meant for digital radio broadcasts. DAB+, which is expected to replace traditional FM radio, doesn't consume mobile data and is free to use. Further, LG is providing broadcasters with the technical interface so they may create their own DAB+ apps. The Stylus 2 with DAB+ will first be made available to consumers in Australia, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom. LG says DAB+ is already broadcast in 40 countries covering some 500 million people. LG hasn't said if or when the LG Stylus 2 will be sold in the U.S., nor if the U.S. variant will support DAB+. The phone has a 5.7-inch screen, 3,000mAh battery, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, and 13-megapixel camera. It includes a stylus and dedicated software for accessing popup menus, calligraphy, and more.

LG's Pen-Equipped Phone Earns a Sequel in the Stylus 2

Feb 15, 2016, 8:22 PM   by Eric M. Zeman

LG today showed off another new handset ahead of Mobile World Congress, the Stylus 2, a second act for last year's G4 Stylus. LG says the new stylus pen is more accurate thanks to a nano coating at the tip. Further, the accompanying software is more refined. For example, features such as Pen Pop toggle a popup menu, while Pen Keeper alerts users to a potentially lost stylus, and Calligraphy Pen lets users scratch notes that are redrawn with high-quality penmanship. The Stylus 2 has a 5.7-inch 720p HD screen and measures 7.4mm thick. The handset boasts a metallic frame containing a 3,000mAh removable battery and memory card slot. The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. The rear camera has a 13-megapixel sensor and the front camera has an 8-megapixel sensor. LG didn't call out any special features for the cameras. The device will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. LG did not reveal pricing nor availability for the Stylus 2. More details will be made available during the MWC trade show in Barcelona.
