W810 Releasing soon? Available with Cingular?

deceive

I've been with Verizon and I'm ready to jump ship. Sick of their crap phones. I'm new to GSM and not sure how the whole sim card works and buying phones from ebay then using them on carriers like Cingular. I know the W810i is starting to trickle out, can I go ahead and buy one before Cingular releases it and still use it? Should I wait for Cingular to introduce it? Lastly, will it work? Sorry, but I'm a noob to the GSM deal and not sure how that all works. I'm used to having a Sprint phone only usable on their network and Verizon, etc. I want this phone bad! I heard it could be out with Cingular end of the month or as late as freaking July. Any help?

Thanks!

I found one on sale at Tigerdirect (and there are some other places):

I was wondering, I think these are all unlocked phones from overseas. The W800s now don't seem to have the GSM 850 band, is that a problem for use in the US? I am not too good with the various frequencies, so I don't know what is and isn't in the US.

The w810i is different from the w800. The 810 is us based with edgde and the required 850 frequency for Cingular.

Yes you can use an unlocked w810i with Cingular. I've been waiting for the w810i as well and have already spoken with Cingular reps who have confirmed that the phone will be usable with Cingular's network. The rep I spoke with says he believes Cingular will be carrying the w810i however he had no news as to its release date with them. His preiction would be several months from now as it took them several months to get the Razr v3 after Motorola released it.

I too, have been waiting for the w810. i called Sony Ericsson today and spoke to a representative. That informed me the telephone is NOT availabe in the US. The phones on ebay or any Internet site are international phones that are not reset to US. Yes, the sim card in the phone will work but if your phone ever needs a master reset it will reset to the original languae...Chinese, etc. Not English. She said the phone is still under contract with Cingular and is anticipated for a June release to Cingualr with an 6 month exclusive to Cingular. (Anticipated could also means months from now!!)

If you do get an unlocked one from Ebay or elsewhere, you probably won't get a SIM card. I recommend getting the cheapest phone with a one year contract from Cingular and then using the SIM in the w810. A one year contract is necessary to get the unlimited mobile-2-mobile calling. That's something you will not get without at least a one year contract.
