UIQ is a user interface that runs on top of Symbian OS.

UIQ stands for User Interface Quartz, and was created by Symbian as one of the three original UI reference designs (Quartz for pen-based PDAs, Pearl for one-handed smartphones, and Crystal for communicators with keyboards). The other two reference designs never made it into a production device.

Nokia has created its own user interfaces that run on top of Symbian OS, including Series 60 (recently re-named S60), Series 80 and Series 90. Series 80 and 90 are no longer under active development, and all future Nokia smartphones will be based on Series 60.

Trivia: Series 60 borrows heavily from concepts originally defined in Symbian Pearl, Series 80 was based on and almost identical...
