The sudden obsolescence of S60

Really, not much need be said beyond S60 went from being a solid smartphone OS competitor in 2007 to almost paleolithic by comparison to the UIs that are popping up on most phones.

The smartphone category has really expanded beyond the handful of PDAs with built in phone there seemed to be when S60 was king. The range of touchscreen UIs (standalone proprietary to OS overlays like Sense on top of Android or the various UIs to make Windows Mobile functional) have really come a long way from gimmicky iPhone imitators to serious communication tools.

Bottom line: I can't see myself buying another Nokia/S60 phone unless they get with the times. And I feel kinda petty & impatient for thinking that way, but technology has moved along prett...

Is it S60 or the camera???

Okay, I have tried out the E71, the 6650 Flip, and now the 5800 XPress Music, and all of them take grainy pictures. I had first thought it was a camera issue, but seeing it has happened on three S60 devices with three different cameras, I am now thinking it is a software issue.

Any ideas on how to get this issue resolved???

Note: this was also posted in the Nokia message board

Flashlite

Has anyone viewed a flash site with a symbian phone? If I recall, they are generally packaged with Adobe Flashlite. I'm just curious if it is worth the switch from a blackberry. I've seen picks of the E71 and have a dummy of the 6650. both are nice looking phones.

Nokia 6650 for At&t

I recently purchased the Nokia 6650 fold for At&t.

I was trying to update the software via PC sync and it tells me it is unable to update. Is this a lock At&t has on it, or am I doing something wrong?

Also, I thought I read something about being able to disable or re-assign the GPS button. Is this possible?

Any recommend downloads for this phone?

Thanks in advance.

Cisco VPN client on S60?

Hey folks,

My last Nokia was in 1998 I think. 😎 Nowadays, all these come with WiFi, WEP and WAP. But my University uses unencrypted access with Cisco VPN. 👀

Does Symbian support that? If yes, which versions?

Can I use Java software for that? If yes, is it free? (probably not ...)

Thanks! 🙂

P.S.: As of the moment, I'm leaning towards N82 or E52 ... if that matters.

MCleaner can natively solve Nokia ‘Curse of Silence’SMS bug

There are lots of reports about Nokia "Curse of Silence" SMS bug these days, the commonly recommended way is to use F-Secure to repair. F-Secure does can fix this, however, dont you think the price is a bit high?

Here I got an app to recommend.MCleaner is a SMS and call firewall. It as natively solve the bug. It can not only defend, but also can repair! Say,if you installed MCleaner, you wont get into the trouble;or if you have had the problem, once install MCleaner, the SMS function will recover automatically. What's more, it only needs $11.99,much cheaper than F-Secure!

There is a 15-day trial period, you can go to www.mcleaner.com to download and try it!

mute internal speaker when active bluetooth headset connected

Ok folks, here's my dilemma. I have a Nokia N95-4 and I love the phone except for one little problem. When you connect a bluetooth headset the only way you can here individual ringtones in the headset is if the phone itself rings as well. When you work in an office enviroment that's just not a good option. I need for someone to tell me how to get the phone to ring to the headset without the phone itself ringing. Silent Profile does just that, shuts everything off. Turning sound down still doesn't quieten it down enough to not bother others. I need the internal speaker to be muted when the phone has a connection to a bluetooth headset. I think this will entail some kind of a hack because we've done it to a couple of phones running windows mob...

MCleaner—best blacklist with schedule

Hi! guys. 😁 yesterday i found a very useful software, called MCleaner.because it's easy to use and good for me when i'm busy now, constantly in important meetings or discussions,my mobile is always ringing in a bad moment. i just need to use the MCleaner.

It permits you to set up blacklists and whitelists (A black list is a set of phone numbers that people calling from those numbers can not get through to your phone while a whitelist is a list of people that can always get through).

About program asking you to do something while application starts, you can an enable an option which says never asks again. next time it won't ask you again.

Help I'm stuck!!! Looiking for a new phone (4 years and counting)

I currently own a mpx220. I purchased it when it first came out several years ago. Since then, I have been looking for a phone to update too. I have attempted to purchase the blackjack 1 and 2 phone, but I was forced to send them back because of active sync issues. Ideally I would like to get a windows mobile 6 phone, however I'm most impressed with the nokia 95. I purchase the first version of the 95, but sent that back when I discover it originally didnt work on our networks in 3g. Now I'm most impressed with the new nokia n96 I recently seen hit the news. But realisically it probably wont even hit the U.S. anytime soon. And when it does, its 3g feature wont work on our networks.

What do I do? Is there a new windows mobile 6 ph...

It seems so far to be pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone knows more about this before I bite the bullet??

Thanks in advance for any advise!

N75 N80 or e61i

Hello nokia users. I have a 6682 which i love to death, my only complaint is the amount of ram. I can't play any good games without it restarting. Anyway I am about upgrade, and I just wanted other peoples feed back on what direction to go. The phones in the subject are one of the three phones I will be purchasing soon. I have been reading about the n75 and n80 for a couple of months now. The fact that the e61 and n80 have wifi is really making me want one of them. I really don't need a business phone but the ne61i seems to be a good buy. What do you guys suggest?

Nokia 6600 Ghost SMS virus

Hello, I have a Nokia 6600 that is a few years old now. Its a good phone and meets my needs for the time being but I have an ongoing issue with this thing that has been bugging me for a while now. About 6-8 times a day I see an outgoing message icon on my phone and its an outgoing SMS to onle of my numbers in my contacts with a multimedia attachment file, be it matrix or virtual sex. Now as far as I know I am not sending these now do I have these files and my bluetooth is off. I have searched these forums for help and I don't have Cabir running after I press and hold the menu key for a couple of seconds. What can I do to stop sending these ghost messages that pop up out of nowhere?

Question on the 6682 Nokia model

Hey,
I was actually thinking of getting the Nokia 6682, and after looking around at all its specs, the only question I have left is this:
Can I use an MP3 song I added to the phone as a ringtone????
I am not too great with technology so...can anyone answer me that?? 🤭
