RAP

(Ranging Profile)

A Bluetooth profile (optional feature of the Bluetooth standard) that enables high-accuracy distance measurement between Bluetooth devices using channel sounding technology. For that reason, this feature is also sometimes referred to as Bluetooth Channel Sounding (CS).

See: Channel Sounding

Although there other techniques that allow rough distance estimates using Bluetooth, this profile provides greater accuracy and security.

Applications of this technology include the finding of lost items, digital keys, and indoor navigation.
