MIDP

Mobile Information Device Profile

A standardized runtime environment designed to allow a wide range of Java software to run easily across a wide range of mobiles devices such as cell phones.

MIDP is based on J2ME, and is usually paired with CLDC, which are related standards that together define a complete standardized environment for Java software on mobile devices.

Newer versions of MIDP, such as MIDP 2.0, add additional APIs for increased functionality.
