LG, drop the "Optimus" name - It damages your product before it even leaves the gate...

Seriously, the Optimus line is synonymous with garbage. Transformers was also so 2008. Rename your product line, and make a statement with QUALITY that will redefine your company as a reliable tech manufacturer. To be blunt, and honest with you LG, you've been making some pretty terrible products ( at least in the States), and you wonder why your mobile line is a disaster. The answer lies in the fact that you're trying to make a few quick bucks off of poorly designed products, with cheap displays, bug-ridden software and HORRIBLE battery life. Invest more money into products that bare your name, and actually be proud of what you made, instead of deeming it as "Acceptable" for the masses. Props to your Tone Bluetooth though - those are quite nice.

I disagree I think the Optimus name stands out I have owned a few of LGs devices never had any issues with them except for poor battery life. I have always replaced the oem battery with a extended battery from amazon. :-)... :D :D :D :D

So you've never used the Optimus One, the Optimus T or the Optimus V ? consider yourself lucky. Those phones were total crap. It really does ruin a good thing. A friend of mine got an Optimus Black (canada), I thought it would be the same old crap, but it's actuially a good, quality phone. Never would have thought though.

It's not that the Optimus line is the plague and you should avoid it at all costs - more like it's never been a name associated with a flagship device. If LG is serious about making better devices, and playing with the big boys, then they need to drop the Optimus name, and try to repair the damage they've done to the consumer base that will honestly avoid this phone purely because of its name.

Fair enough. It just seems like a catch 22. I believe WP will be around for the long haul. They just need more of the apps that people use most, on other mobile OS's. As much as I personally love WP, it do realize that it boils down to the apps. Not, the quantity necessarily, but the most popular apps. Microsoft is gong to have to really put it in, with the premier of Blackberry 10, at the end of the month, and to boot, they're claiming to have about 70,000 apps out the gate. So, competition is going to really heat up and it will be interesting to see where these companies will stand, by the end of the year. But, if WP for whatever reason doesn't make it, I will be trying out the Blackberry 11 or 12. Whatever it will be, by the time my contract is up, again.

>>Not sure how you got to talking about Best Buy and talking about bloatware..but alright? Not sure why you can't see the similarities between what you're doing and what they do, but alright. >>The restore option is if all other options fail. Which I would gander is what happens 90% of the time. >>No need to be condescending, Why? Do you have a patent on that? >>this is directly from Apples Support page that is supposed to resolve the issue. Right, except that I'm guessing most people find themselves having to do the restore in order to "resolve the issue". But I don't think that's a solution many people are happy with, especially considering the original poster's concerns, which you so condescendingly responded to with these steps. Most people would expect an actual fix to the OS to be rolled out in an update, or a statement from the company saying one is coming soon. >> It's called "troubleshooting". No it isn't. It's called pretending to troubleshoot and offering steps that cover up and never resolve the real issue. Antenna gate ring a bell? Or how about Mac Defender? It's standard operating procedure for Apple to deny every issue that arises with their products and to take all available steps to avoid a real solution. I've done just about every form of technical troubleshooting there is: electronics components and circuitry, electronic hardware, software code, software configuration, user settings, etc. And I would never recommend a set of steps like this unless I didn't really care to help the user fix the actual problem. And sometimes maybe that's justified, because you have a friend who constantly wastes your time and can't be bothered with figuring things out for himself. But it's never a waste of time to figure out what's wrong with your product for a customer.

>>Not sure why you can't see the similarities between what you're doing and what they do, but alright. Erm, you are referring to a Retail store service that installs their own programs to "fix" issues, I provided a copy and paste straight from Apples Support page referencing a way to fix the issue. No programs to install to fix the issue, just simple steps that can take 2-3 minutes to troubleshoot. >>Which I would gander is what happens 90% of the time. I suppose I could pull a percentage out of my butt and try and act all like I know everything about everything too. I wouldn't know, I didn't have the issue, just found the link by a Google Search so I can't say it would require a restore. That's why you process a back up when you connect to iTunes if you need to do so. Something could have happened during the update process and caused the issue, IDK, that's why they provided options before the final option of restoring, which would resolve the issue if the issue persisted. >>Why? Do you have a patent on that? Maybe I do. Why you are so butthurt over an issue that isn't even yours? >>It's called pretending to troubleshoot and offering steps that cover up and never resolve the real issue. So I suppose the steps on every manufacturers website that has the same set of steps are all wrong in trying to resolve these issues, huh? Antenna gate ring a bell? blah blah about something else that wasn't part of the topic. I see where this is going and you are avoiding the original topic. How shocking. Apple offers phone support, as well as in store support. WTF else do you want them to offer? Geeksquad service where they drive out to you as well?

Antenna Gate Wins

Who would have ever thought that selling a majorly defective product to millions of people and then acting like a douche bag when customers complained would be a win for any company? But apparently it was for Apple, as their customers have all accepted the need to wrap their shiny iPhones (bought mostly for aesthetic reasons in the first place) in some sort of a case in order to achieve what should be core functionality. So, now Apple can omit all the standard hardware it likes (while charging the same retail price as fully featured phones) because it can always sell the additional hardware to its dufus customer at an exorbitant price in the form of a new case. What I mostly find funny is that there is a need to swap out to another case in order to do practically anything with an iPhone, and iPhone users seem fine with this approach. But the idea of doing something practical like swapping out an SD card is an affront to any Apple loving fanboy.

As a recovering Apple addict in the 90's, I used to skip through the daisy fields in glee while claiming Apple as the almighty. Then I as others, grew tired of the game. Apple made no sacrifice while its customers would sit on the sidelines wishing and hoping for restitution to play as our constituents did with Windows. It would never come to be and we left Apple on life support in hopes that it would learn its lesson. Along comes this generation that likes to think with its lower extremities rather than using common sense. Pay extra for this and pay extra for that. Why? The stability of ios vs current Android is not worth sacrificing dignity nor dollars just to say "I own an iPhone." John B.

"Along comes this generation that likes to think with its lower extremities rather than using common sense. Pay extra for this and pay extra for that." I am so goddamn sick of people like you talking down to a group of people that includes myself. And just for your ****ing information while I worked at my minimum wage part time job while still paying for groceries, gas, phone, and rent, 90%of the customers who bought or had an iPhone were not from my generation. It's not just my generation, it's yours too.

I'm going to disagree with you. As a customer service representative, I can easily tell the age of a caller when I am speaking to them, and I can check accounts for Birth Dates as well. Let me tell you no, It is definately not his Generation, it is yours. I can tell when I am speaking to a teenager, or somebody in their 20s, and let me tell you - there is a HUGE difference in the way people speak, in articulation of words, in specific language, in grammar structure, and in the general intelligence that is conveyed to me through their speech. It has nothing to do with your Job, or how much money you make, it does have to do with his comment, though. "...think with its lower extremities..." is a great explanation. It has everything to do with education level, and to do with how much the individual cares, and let me tell you - people just don't care anymore, and that's a fact. You want to axe me a question? Sorry, but I don't speak Walmart. Can I cut your phone back on? What am I, a wizard or something? Seriously. The language speaks for itself.

You left out some very specific information that is vital to debate. Any generation thinks that someone 10 years older is another generation. I don't care how old people think I am so I am up front to say I am 53. Percentage wise, I can guarantee that most of my generation isn't sporting iphones except for most of the women I know. Yes, a few men my age are but, most everyone 38 or younger are keeping the Apple brand motivated. Not my generation. Ironically, it is this 38 year or younger age group that also determines the direction, education, trend, business mangement etc, of what happens in circular operation of everyday, daily routine. You are the future. You claim you are upset. Well, so are many from my generation. Apple claims removable batteries are not needed. SD cards are not needed. NFC is not needed. And so on. Why? What is the motivation here? I can tell you it is to extract more dollars from consumers. Want more memory? Pay 100$ for a new phone instead of 25 for a card.Have a problem with your battery? You have to go to a service center and pay possibly a 200 dollar deductable to replace your current phone which is refurbished instead of just buying a 30 dollar battery. Want NFC from Apple? Pay $69 rather than have an android phone with it already allocated for use. A La Carte is great for many things. But when a company charges you top buck and it is lacking in features, where do you draw the line? My dislike for Apple comes from many years of using its products and from "My generations" discontent of watching Windows users moving ahead with what is new at a cheaper price rather than submit to carrot dangling. Apple's "Oh, it's coming. Don't worry" tactics begin to wear. I spend good money on this product. I want it now. Not when Apple says I can. John B.

You're going to disagree with me so you can make generalizations? And no, it's definitely not just my generation, I don't know how you can even say that. It's also incorrect to imply that our generation is the only one that has ever thought with it's lower extremities and is ruining everything. What about the free love movement of the 70s? It's happened before. What I've learned is people are people, and spreading a group of them paints a really bad picture of the whole group. You're totally not getting correct information if you take the average of the entire group and you think "oh yeah, every single one of them is like that". All of my friends who are my age don't fit into your stereotype. What happened is you got old and now you think all young kids are stupid and ignorant when in reality we were no different than you at your age and we'll be there someday too.
