Does anyone know what type of video files the blackberry pearl uses? I have tried to put different types of video files and it says unable to play? Any suggestions?

It's hard to know without having a specific error message to go with. Do you use a desktop manager to add files to the Pearl, or do you just add files with a memory card; because if you use the filemanager (if available) when you add the .avi files it should prompt you to reconfigure them so they work properly on the pearl. (Unless T-Mobile is lying and they advertise false compatibility)

The problem with the avi files is that avi isn't a video format, it's a container. You need to know which codecs it supports (DivX, XviD, etc; will probably be divx) and then you will know which files it can play. Oh, and also you have to know what kind of audio in the container it supports (mp3, ac3, pcm/wav, etc). It should tell you in the manual (hopefully).
