Cingular tethering question...

I have a motorola l6 and am trying to tether and use gprs...

It used to work through motorola phone tools, however, I use linux as my main operating system so phone tools are not really an option.

I've found a way to connect my phone and use it as a modem, here are the settings I currently have..

username: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: CINGULAR1
DNS: Automatic

The only question is, the program I use needs to dial a number to cause the phone to connect to GPRS... I've seen several diffrent numbers that the program can dial based on google...however none of them seem to work, the two I have tried are:

*99#
*99***1#

I talked to motorola tech support yesterday and they gave me what I believe to be a BS answer, they told me...
