TerreStar Networks is launching a satellite to be operational in 2008 that will beam data to wireless customers in North America. Any one have some ideas of what type of signal/technology this would be sent as? Think its a good idea? Mobile live tv for everyone, or only a particular technology? How will this effect the wireless community? Take a look and feel free to expound upon your theories.

Well, as for technology, I couldn't tell you--still probably in discussion. But the article did say it was going to be in 1990-2025 MHz and 2165-2200 MHz spectrums, which don't correspond with anything used currently in the mobile sector, but that's not to say it can't be adopted. 2008 is still a long way off in the technology sector!

From the sound of another article, it would provide coverage for a "next generation 2 GHz mobile phone platform." So, in other words, my original guess was correct:

Directly from the Dept. of Redundancy Dept. Sounds pretty cool to me, but now those of us that are CSR's and have been saying "No mam/sir, we don't use sattelites" will have egg on our faces. I think this could get to be pretty cool. 😎
