Multimedia phones are just begining to increase market depth. In addition broadband needed to be up and running to help with the transmission. The content is still in its infancy as are the purchase plans associated with this service.

So this is more a case of a specialised radio station? The article didn't enlighten me much as the service seems to be a company charging people to listen to the radio on their mobile phone, which is something I've been able to do for years.

not every radio station is transmitted over the internet or braodcast over the frequencies for a cell phone.

1. The number of content options is increasing.

2. The number of phones that can recieve such content is increasing

3. The broadband capability of providers is increasing so the quality of the transmission is higher (3G etc.).

4. the number of users who are interested and willing to pay for these services is increasing.

The difference is that this service is "on demand". Basically, if you're working during the world series, you can have the recording beamed to your cell phone while your driving home. Then you can listen to that interview on NPR you keep missing. It's kinda like tivo...kind of. But the reason you pay as opposed to the free FM radios on many SE's and nokias is because of the on-demand aspect.
