Does anyone out there know of a GSM phone that will work in the USA in ANALOG and DIGITAL mode? I want a phone that I can take to Europe, use as a digital phone whereever there is a digital signal AND pick up an analog signal in rural areas.

Europe doesnt have any analog, so you wouldnt need to worry about digital/analog phone there, but thats a different story in the US. although Cing and T-mo doesnt have any analog device you best luck is with a quad or tri-band phone. cing seems to cover any important area, salesman was quoted on here that they cover 97% of the US population.

The closest thing you might find is a Verizon phone:

Doesn't appear to do any analog service, but it does CDMA and GSM so you might get better coverage with it in the US. However I can't tell you if Verizon supports the GSM usage in the US, since I don't work for them.

Hope this helps you out. 😁
