Verizon and Wi Fi

Does anybody have an idea when verizon will have a phone that has WiFi? Not there BroadBand service but a true WiFi?

I know they have they one, but I heard it sux, always losing connection and not good speed.

I was hoping that the Treo would have had WiFi and I was surprised that they didn't.

Anyway, I want to buy a new phone and renew my 2 year contract but I don't like any of the phones they have currently. I almost bought the Motorola Q but again no WiFi and I don't want to pay for a data packet plan.

Well, I hope someone has some info on phones coming out next year 1 qtr or 2 qtr.

Thanks

Is there one coming out with built in wifi? I know cingular has a few and T-Mobile.

Sprint is coming out with some next year. But I heard Verizon is not b/c they want people to use their BroadBand network.

I heard a rumor that Treo was goign to come out with one next spring with built in wifi but I don't know if it is true.

Thanks

as hs been prev stated to you the verizon xv6700 has built in wifi which means you do not have to even go through the vzw data network just be in a wifi area or hotspot. vzw also has the new 6800 and 5800 pda phones coming out in january which wil both have builtin wifi.

Verizon has been known to charge connection fees even for feature on the phones that don't require GIN access, be careful with your wireless. If there's a way for Verizon to figure out how block it, they will, if they can figure out how to get the phone to report usage, they will do it and charge you every chance they get.

if you actually believe this you are crazy!!! there is no way they can track the usage you have on your wifi connection that is a separate piece of hardware that never even touches the vzw data network that's like saying my normal dsl company I use at home is going to charge me cause I go to starbucks and connect with their wifi. trust me you will NEVER be charged for using wifi on your device from verizon.

It's not crazy, I have had customers be billed for using the voice memo feature on their phone and get GIN charges for it. If it's on your phone, Verizon either has or will find a way to track it.

Verizon will force every feature on the phone to the subscriber network, if they possibly can.

Look at the track record:

Bluetooth crippling - Files are forced over the network.
Wi-Fi - Forget it, especially if your phone does not require a data plan.
Music - Pay Verizon now, even if you already own the music.
GPS - You don't need the carrier network for that.
Ringtones - Must come from Verizon now, either buy a ringtone, or pay to attach it to a nessage.
Pictures - You can't get the pictures off the phone without using PIX Place, unless you have an expansion card.
Alarm clock - The new Verizon UI won't have it. Look for a fifty cent "Get Up Now" wakeup service.
