LG VX 8500 Chocolate
I read you can get the firmware update V04 downloaded into your phone to activate speakerphone either by doing it yourself online or going to a Verizon store to have it done.
I've also heard this phone has no speakerphone capabilities, hence, no software to get.
What's the truth?

the chocolate does have speakerphone capabilities... verizon just "turned it off" with their software 😲

Okay, I even talked to an LG rep who said the 8500 also had no speakerphone...And saw an editor's review on cnet.com who said it had no speakerphone. Why would they say that? And why in the heck would Verizon turn it off?????

It was probably just an oversight. They were probably so geeked about the phone itself they didn't thoroughly pay attention to everything.
Who knows... there's probably an answer to that question, but us common-folk will most likely never know it.
