Any Rumors about Western Wireless in Kansas
Has anyone heard rumors of who might be the buyer of the Kansas markets that Alltel must divest?

They sure are keeping it quite. Logical suitors would be Dobson, Cingular, or perhaps even US Cellular. Centennial would be a stretch.
The guys at US Unwired in Lake Charles have a lot of money in their pockets, but if they are smart, they will just put it in the bank and go play golf.
Rumors here in the AR-11 market say that Cingular definatly refuses to buy this armpit of Arkansas. They have been leasing cell site locations at a rapid pace, and claim that a system build-out will be operational by the end of the year. It will have to be PCS on spectrum owned by AT&T, plus some purchased from US Unwired.
The postings on the FCC website say the divestiture properties have been placed with a third party holding company, and ALLTEL...

Interesting is poor little AR-11 rsa. Nobody wants it. Cingular is leasing sites like crazy in the area for a system build-out with their 1900 mhz spectrum they already own in the market.
