Treo 650 for T-mobile?

I've tried contacting T-mobile directly several times as to the status of this phone, and can't get a straight answer. No one will confirm even *if* they'll carry the Treo 650, or when they might decide to carry it. At this point, if I could get a firm release date I think I'd be happy.

Does anyone out there have better information about it? Should I just give up and jump to Cingular or get an unlocked?

hrm, this doesn't sound like shop talk. in fact this sounds like a customer, unless you could and would easily switch jobs for a small perk. Please post in appropriate forum, we get enough of this crap at work.

Btw, if you REALLY want the 650 for T-mobile why don't you call them and ASK for it. Nothing drives me crazier than people who want to blame the shortcomings on the carrier. Like a limited coverage area... WTF? You think they want it like that?? They build where it's most profitable. You want service in your lead bunker at the bottom of a valley, then call and LOG A SERVICE REQUEST. Jesus. It's so nice when I can yell at these people without fear of losing my job. I'm seriously consider transferring into Engineering.

I'm sorry, but I *have* called T-moblie, twice. Most recently about two weeks ago. I have also sent at least two to three emails to customer service, most recently about a week ago. I have stopped in the nearest T-Mobile store, about 200 yards from my office, enough that they scatter when I walk in.

The problem is, no one at T-mobile *knows* anything. At all. I have been put off with vauge statements that won't confirm or deny that the damn phone even exists, much less if they'll carry it. I'm beginning to feel that they have no intention of carrying the damn thing, but want to string along customers so they don't jump to other carriers in the hopes they'll give up.

And I'm sorry that I, a lowly cellular consumer, sullied this ...

It's not going to happen. They decided not to carry it because they no longer want to have smart phones that don't have WiFi.

Do you mean to say T-mo is more interested in UMA as an alterative to, say 3G or EDGE?

My bad. Lack of sleep, thought this was posted in the shop talk section not rumor mill.

I didn't mean for you to call them to ask them when it's coming, or have them direct you where to look. I meant call and tell them you want it. It gets logged, I promise, and that information is used in deciding handset lineup.

And ya know, that's often the problem with life, people don't *know* anything until it's happened. I'm sorry if you feel the CCR's aren't living up to your expectation, but they don't know. The people above them don't know. The executives don't know, because they haven't decided yet. They are looking for customer demand. Remember, we don't have 2 year contracts, and so you'd still have to pay about 600 for the thing...
