But cingulars new 3g network is going to be running on hsdpa which is a lot faster than umts.

Is it safe to assume that the average person using a phone and the camera and maybe the music will not notice how UMTS and HSDPA work or don't work (not used by the phone) to full capacity? Is this just a matter of Cingular have X to the 10th power, but someone buys a phone that can only use X to the 8th power, so he loses a little speed but doesn't need to care? Colione, are you going way high tech on me here? 😁

BTW: The 1150 (RAZR V3x) is still the cell of my dreams, only surpassable by NOKIA stainless steel phones. ...

Lol .. i'll keep it simple for u Loma 🙂

chances are you'll not notice it. basically what the hsdpa system is, high speed internet. If your phone uses GPRS or EDGE, it will continue to use that network also.

HSDPA is just another upgrade that works on top of the existing network.. of course, they'll have to upgrade each tower also.

Hey! The more I learn, the less simple you have to keep it. 😛

Are you saying that Cingular is building a new system (UTMS) (?) and that maybe some GSM phones will NOT work on the UTMS system? Wouldn't that eliminate a lot of phones from being usable with Cingular? -Lorna

no, it was my mistake.. they are upgrading their data network to hsdpa. just like they did with the EDGE system. phones that use GPRS and EDGE will still work, but not at the faster speeds..

I have seen this phone and love it. Question: Does anyone know whether it will come out in colors other than black?

Also, is that black a black PLASTIC surface on the V1150/RZR V3x? I ask because I am becoming attached to the beautiful stainless steel of the new Nokia phones. -Lorna
