Motorola Needs New Push To Talk Phones
🤣 Has any one heard of any new phones coming out by motorola or any other company for push to talk. This is the only thing holding me back from getting ptt.

if your talking about nextel there are supposed to be 15-20 phones this year. i am expecting about 10-15 becuase of the merger agreement. with other providers i am not sure.

oh ok. well, they have to see if the push to talk solution that they have now will be a hit before they start releasing new phones. there will be no point of releasing new phones if its not a hit like last time.

im in the same boat as you. i have always loved the idea of ptt, but never liked the coverage on nextel. slowly but surely, they are creaping out on vzw. right now, the only moto options are the v60p, t300p, and the v65p, none of which have great features. over the next year, they will start having some options out.

Are you aware Verizon PTT will not work when roaming or analog? Verizon PTT on works when you are on their 1X network. Compare that to Nextel and you will find they are nearly equal.

I wouldn't say coverage is nearly equal. Especially when you add in the fact that Nextel continues to have blackouts on their network. Even in major markets Nextel customers are having problems with coverage.

There have been no major outages on Nextels voice network, only text messaging delays. the bottome line is that Verizon's PTT service does not compare to Nextel's in terms of quality and latency. This is new technology for VZ and NXTL's been doing it for over 11 years. The problem is that NXTL is just not a consumer oriented company.

Cingular is supposed to be getting ptt in the very near future. Motorola is already equipped for it . but is just waiting for cingular to put the tech in place.

stilll. like i said on the cingular board this will be a non event especially with the merger integration problems thats hurting them now.
