this comes at time when the SEC is ready to take a chot at the highest Qwest executives.

I think if necessary Verizon will up the $. Ultimately I think Qwest is too week compared to Verizon even will some lopsided dollars.

verizon will bid up for mcip. the thing is... mcip's board has to ok the new deal. i belive that mcip wont and they will claim its not in the best interest of shareholder value for the long term. yes, boards have fiduaciary duties to serve the shareholders and create value, however, with quest and their 16 billion dollars of debt, that (the debt) wont bennefit mci's (and the combined company) growth pentential and shareholders value. thus; denying the deal.

thats my opinion.

With the SEC suing 7 qwest executives i do not see any chance for Qwest's bid prevailing.

i dont think that has anything to do with it. i think it has to do with financials and long term growth. qwest has a big problem with long term debt and future growth, while verizon, on the other hand is better then quest with those regards.

good point by you though, i just dont agree.

I do not think this new offer will change anything.

Qwest may as well increase double the offer. The fact of the matter is that few believe the results can be realized.

i hope qwest doesnt, becuase now they will be in a bidding war for mcip with verizon. you will not win when you face verizon. remember att wireless and cingular? vodaphone made cingular (bell south and sbc) spent 10's of billions dollars more becuase of the bidding war. that hurts bell south and sbc as well as cingular.

that could be verizon's motive here too. be in a bidding war then stop the bidding when qwest bids higher and higher..
