The z500 has that feature built into the phone. Cingular does not offer the service to support it though, but they will be, sooner or later. It's no secret that they've been testing it.

Coming in SEPT. with many phones launching in August. Finally cingular will have push to talk... Thats the reason for the lack of new phones over the summer so far.

I am just relaying what I was told in my Ptt training.
If it doesnt work, then I guess my trainers were wrong.

As of right now, there are no US companies that use kodiak that I know of, there was supposed to be something in the works that will allow uses to PTT other carriers customers, but it has quietly went away... guess it not gonna happen after all.

It would be a good idea, for consumers that is. Don't know if big business want to go that route and with all the competition there is in the wireless industry, who knows. Text messaging has grown a bit and also pic messages was only allowed between carriers but thats starting to change to so who knows, maybe the consumer does win this time.

hopefully... it was said that all carriers signed onto this, with the exception of nextel... guess it's gonna take some more time.

Whoa! wait, if all carriers sign up for this it would be bigger then nextel. Imagine VZW, cingular, alltel, Cellone, UNicell, Cricket, and tmobie to name a few. Thats well over 100 mil customers. They would all be connected. Of course that is if everything goes as planed.

Cingular's push to talk has been pushed back to November. I think everyone needs to understand, you will only be able to use the PPT feature within your wireless company. There's not crossing over networks. Example: Altell will not be able to contact Cingular via PPT not will Cingular be able to contact other providers using the feature.

Cingular is only going to submit a limited amount of handsets for the Push To Talk Feature.

It will be an add on feature to your current voice plans. As of now, they are stating 9.99 for single lines and 19.99 on Family talk lines. Both are unlimited use plans.

yea we got the notice today that it was pushed back til nov.. probably because of the lack of handsets and the probability of the 7200 not being released.

What is a chirp feature? Are you referring to the way the phone rings? Or something else? -Lorna

He is referring to Push to Talk. The walkie talkie feature that every other wireless provider already has.
