From what I learned, Cingular will be carrying ONLY Nokia candy bar style handsets. Which means the newest Moto phone following the Razr will not be sold. This was confirmed by a sales rep. but we all know that can't be the final word. 😕

I work for cingular and can tell you that this has no truth to it what so-ever. The market is still very much into clamshells no matter what the carrier or manufacturer. In fact, I would love to see Cingular or T mobile carry a Nokia clamshell!!
...
Coming in august Cingular will be carrying a nokia flip.... As well as several "candy bar" style phones, one from sony, as well as one from Moto...
I'm assuming the Nokia candy bar style only policy will go away with the nokia flip launch.
...
Cingular will still carry other manufacturer's phones, but Nokia will the exclusive manufacturer for candy bar style phones.
...
If this was true, Nokia would not be coming out with all of the GSM flip phones (for USA) that they are, as there are now only 2 GSM carriers in the US (Except small networks). As of 3/19/05, Nokia has 2 GSM flip phone in their Expected Soon section. I doubt that Nokia is coming out with all these phone just for T-Mobile.
It's NOT TRUE!!! 🙄
...
YOU ARE WRONG andre16. I work for Cingular and personally spoke with the Nokia sales rep that stops into our store about once a month to chat. He stated that Nokia WAS coming out with flip for Cingular, however now because of the exclusive candy bar contract they signed with Cingular, Cingular has denied them the right to have a flip phone for sale. He claimed that this will at least be true for a year maybe longer.
...
My understanding of this is that the only candy bar style phone that Cingular will carry is Nokia. This does not mean that they will not stock a Nokia flip, just that they will not stock any other manufacturers bar phone.

What are you finding most potential customers preferring? Flip, bar, slider, ??? I myself am indiscriminate even though I use a flip...
...
Hands down, my customers want flips. Even when there is a very good reason for them to go with a candy bar, they want flips. When I pursue it, they tell me they don't want to make an accidental call with a candy bar. I say you can lock it. They don't care. They also like the flip because they're a little shorter.
...
If you notice, the cingular website carries non-nokia candybar phones, so look for the nokia flip to become available there...
...
Cingular will be releasing the Nokia 6102 in the next month or so, we've already received the posters.
...
yea we did too... sometime mid-late august and it's ptt 🙂🙂
