So I got my hands on the Instinct and now have access to it prior to the release. Some notes so far.

What I like:
Visual Voicemail is so nice

Speech to Action is amazing, just say "send text to Joe" it takes you right to the messaging screen ready to type.

say "search, pizza" it finds the closest pizza place.

The typing was really cool, I made no mistakes.

The Haptic touch (vibrating screen) very nice.

The Internet was super fast and there are a lot of options to view web pages which is nice.

They have shortcut buttons on the key board like "www.", ".com", ".net" which is cool

Things I don't like:

You can't copy and paste. I know it's not a pda but it would have been nice.

The delete button when you are typi...

The phone part of it works great, volume is good, and everyone can hear me.

i have one at my store too. i think that the phone overall is pretty sick. i didnt realize that you cant copy and paste that is pretty sh*tty.. other than that, same complaints about the backspace and space.

the phone is really responsive though, both the speed of the phone itself and the touch pad itself.

i feel the phone will answer the demand for it well.

One of my coworkers told me she is able to tape conversations with her phone when not on the phone. Is this possible? My phone is JUST a basic phone with no camera or anything else because this is all I need. If people are able to tape conversations between coworkers, I'm afraid of the HIPAA implications in the healthcare field where I work.

What operating system does it have? Is it windows? Does it come close to a PDA phone as far as calendars, meetings and the such?

it uses its own operating system... not really.. This phone is geared more for entertainment and fun. It is very clear on the Calling part loud and clear.

No, it has it's own operating system, does not use windows. The menu is fully customizable which is nice.

As far as the Calendar goes it works just like a pda. You can schedule multiple events, set reminders, and recurring events. The only thing that I see that people may not like is that you can only view the calendar by month and touch the day that you want to go to. Being a blackberry user I like the flexibility of being able to view by day, week, or month. Not a huge deal, but something that i noticed. I usually view by month anyway.
