Alright, i was going to post this on the other thread, but it was too long and i figured no one would look at it.

As of now, i could be wrong, but Nextel is on GSM. Sprint, as i no, is CDMA. Once this merge is complete, will all other GSM phones not be of any use or what?

I dont know if i can trust this merge. I guess we will just have to wait and see

Relax and sit back. The full integration of their networks won't take effect for quite some time. As for Nextel being GSM...nope, they're actually using something called iDEN...a variation on TDMA. Expect handsets that support both technologies within the next year or so.

The first new phones in the pipeline will support iDEN and CDMA...until the combined company completes the merger and everything works on CDMA only.

nextel is on iden, while sprint is on cdma....

they will make dual cdma/iden phones possibly sooner than later.

then they will start to migrate some of nextel's clients in 2007 when ev-do rev a will be on sprint's network as well as to roll out qchat, which is amazing. (its a push to talk product over the ev-do network that only nextel can use.)

nextel will have contigious spectrum in the 1.9 and 800mhz where they will transfer that into sprint's holdings, where they would use that spectrum (mainly the 800) for cdma.

as long as you have contigious spectrum you can have cdma..

this will be a great merger becuase by the year of 2008-2010 i think that nextel will be no more, unless nextel wants to have their network on for ce...
