How do you find out release dates on new cellphones and carriers?

The problem with release dates is that they're never set in stone.

In fact, quite the opposite. It's actually very rare for a phone to be released on the original planned date.

That's because the technology is complex enough that issues inevitably crop up during testing that need to be fixed, which takes time. Depending on what happens during testing and tweaking, phones can easily be delayed for months at a time, even at the last minute.

That's why companies are reluctant to share release dates info. When you do hear rumors about release dates, you should always take them with a huge grain of salt, no matter what the source. Even if the CEO of Cingular personally tells you a date, it's just a guess - he can't guarantee it 10...

Example: Cingular & the A630

This phone was supposed to release in October! October I tell you! Now, they don't even have a date listed... It seemed to have mysteriously vanished from the price lists in some markets... sales plays ignorant... It's almost like they're trying to erase it from our minds...
