Can anyone add any insight to when or if BB will come out with a 3G phone for AT&T? If I search I always get a bunch of BS. Thanks in advance.

ug! Thanks, Mark. I was afraid of that. I do have the Pearl now, but looking in the future for a 3G BB. Not interested in the other 3G PDA's. Well, lets just keep our fingers crossed!

I was actually at a meeting about this just a few weeks ago, and while they don't have any immediate plans for a 3G blackberry, (alluded to maybe in a year or so) they did comment on the way the internet works on the blackberries now, and usually they are faster than on a 3G device. The blackberry servers actually cut up the internet pages you are trying to load into smaller easier to download pieces, cutting out the crap you dont really need. Only real benefit of a 3G blackberry is just that you can talk and access internet at the same time, as opposed to now, where the internet connection is "paused" until your call is done.

The 88xx is rumored to be launching in December on 3g but BB claims there software/Browser works better on EDGE. Cingulars network uses the same connection for data and voice so it is capable of multi tasking. What BB are you using? The problem is not the your device isn't 3g is that BB has done something to the software to prevent you from using the internet while using voice.

the speeds dont really differ too much for site browsing but you really see 3g shine during data/file transfer. we dont have anything on the books right now as the curve launched not too long ago. the curve is a great phone but you said you werent interested in any other 3g phones....the blackjack is my alltime favorite phone ever i am obsessed with it. but if you are a blackberry lover check the curve out its a cool phone.

What are you talking about??? How would 3g effect file/data transfer? Do you mean download speeds? 3g browsing is ridiculously faster then edge. Have you ever put a 8525 next to a 8125 and watched the speed difference? Do you have 3g in your area? Its not like the company tells its employees when phones are coming out in the distant future do a little research and you will find that there is to be a 88xx 3g black berry scheduled for December

I suspect that RIM is sticking to EDGE chipsets until the UMTS ones get rather more refined, power-efficient, etc.
