OK I was sooo wrong! My friend told me that she get 500 any provider text messages and unlimited verizon messages for 10 bucks a month! I was like sweetness, I love to text on my work phone that has unlimited text, but I want to c how much texting is on my alltel phone bcause my 16 yr old wants it! SO i called them up since it wasnt on their fantastic website (sarcastic!) and the representative told me that text messaging unlimited was 19.95 a month! I had a stroke!!! With taxes that would be about 26 she figured out, and so that would be 26 bucks for texting on a plan that is only 63 a month! a third of my bill would be text messages! WTF! This is rediculous! I am definately swithcing to verizon when my contract is up, buying a cheap 6255i ...

the $10 verizon text messaging package only includes unlimited to and from verizon customers. the $20 alltel message pack includes unlimited to any carrier. for 10 bucks more it's a much better value.

The $10 VZW txt & pix package gives unlimited IN txting(and I know some pixing although I cant remember off the top of my head if it is unlimited or not) and 500 to outside the network. I really cant say if it is better then Alltel but please know what you are talking about before you post.

Its still a good deal but its not unlimited internet. It does use your min. But if you have unlimited night and weekend min then it is unlimited during the nights and weekends. 10 dollars more for unlimited peak time web access. 25 dollars to hook it up to a laptop and use phone as a modem for high-speed internet.

Sprint has $15 unlimited to anyone. Just another option if you are that serious about texting

Too bad Sprint doesn't have coverage like Alltel. PCS footprint sucks! To argue, in my area, Alltel is the biggest and most dominant carrier, so VZW "in-network" text doesn't do much.....but I would have to figure even in major metropolitan areas, there is too much competition for people that text enough to want unlimited to be limited to 500 messages out of network. I would have to say that for most SMS-ers, unlimited txt plus mobile web would be a much better investment. After all, what good does saving $10 on unlimited text do if you have 500 extra messages to outside carriers at .10 per and it costs you $50 in overage. Ponder before you switch bud!

Actually, if you look at the plans they are pretty much the same. The VZW unlimited is only to VZW customers only.
