Hi! I work at verizon in ND! I had alltel (cellular one) before I came to work at verizon, and so I didnt cancel my alltel service when I started working at verizon. Originally I worked at an independent agent for 5 yrs, and so i didnt get a free verizon phone and verizon min, and since alltel is cheaper (it was a cell one plan) I got that instead. 3 weeks after I signed up for a new contract in Aug 26 of 05, I was offered a job at a cooperate verizon store! So now I have 11 months left of my alltel/cell one contract. I want to know if the ETF is cheaper as I get closer to my end date! I get a free verizon phone and verizon min now so I dont need to pay 75 bucks a month when I dont need to. If i tell them that I am moving out of coverage wou...

ETF for Alltel is $200. That is a flat rate that doesnt prorate. So, if that is cheaper than paying the remaining contract...

Call them and tell them your moving to an area where they dont have coverage, jsut make sure you study the map and have an address handy when they ask for it, maybe they will cancel you free of charge.

Keep us updated on how it goes

Actually, If you do try this, Alltelwill require proof of address. i.e. drivers license with that address, of a current bill with your name on it going to that address. Sorry this isnt the answer you are looking for, so i would suggest just paying the $200 and getting out.

Try this since you prob won't need it anyway... If you have a newer nice phone, like for example a Razr, you can easily get 200.00 dollars for it on ebay and you can pay your ETF with that... Just an idea...

Moving to an area that is off the Alltel network is NOT grounds to have the EDP waived. Check the Terms and Conditions of the contract.

He is right. Put it this way... even if you die.. they still require payment.. I had a customer about a month ago, this happened too, and they said that the ETF is usually setteled through the estate

not sure if it applys for alltell, but cingular for example states that if the peson dies, someone has to bring a death certificate to a corporate office and they can cancel with no fees (cept for usage)

Get outta here, buddy...

I work at an Alltel store in Florida (aka heavens waiting room)...if someone provides a death cert., its automatic: we cancel the line and waive the EDP...

say your rate plan was 29.99 and you have 11 months left,

29.99 x 11 = 329.89 plus taxes if you stay

ETF = 200

this doesn't overage, roaming, long distance or any other charges, so your best bet would be to just cancel
