Kind of a subjective question. Customer service T-Mobile but network is not even close it is definetly Alltel. I can only speak for Florida but Alltel's network especially in the Tampa bay area and Especially Polk County is just untouchable. Alltel has great roaming agreements with Verizonand Sprint so Alltel gets the best of CDMA in locations they do not have service. Alltel puts a lot into their network and most people with the exception of the newly aquired markets would probably agree with me.

yeah i agree 100%. T-mobile has great CS, but thier network is just a joke. You basically have to be living in a city or somehow living right on top of a major expressway to get a signal. Move 20 yards away from the expressway and your signal is gone. Why are they so successful? 2 words. Catherine Zeta-Jones. Good marketing can sell anything, even a crappy half @ssed network. And damn she is fine.

Not a flame, but whenever anyone on this thread compares the two company's networks they fail to differentiate between native and roaming coverage. I think if we were discussing actual alltel coverage vs. actual tmobile coverage the conversation would be going very differently. In that sense alltel is not even close to a nationwide carrier where tmobile is. In terms of roaming, while tmobile does not have the ability to roam on verizon(obviously), they do have quite an extensive roaming network. There are roaming agreements that were made in recent months that have greatly added to the amount of space covered by tmobile and our roaming partners. They are not currently advertised on our coverage maps(public ones anyway) as they use the 850mhz...

LOL that CZ thing was funny. From what I have read though Alltel has the most native coverage of anyone per square mile but it is based in more rural areas where T-Mobile is in all the big cities I believe where Alltel's biggest market is in Tampa or Pheonix and neither are a top ten media market. By the way the square mileage thing is only effective as of the finalization of the western wireless buyout.

only reason why t-mobile's customer service is so "Good" is because they cave in to every customer and hand out credits like candy on halloween

I think Alltel, because of that cdma network plus Alltel can deploy ev-do while tmobile usa can’t.

Well where I live at, Alltel has been a monopoly for a while (southeast georgia). With that being said, they charge higher prices here for phones than the alltel website, and so many people have gotten screwed over by them here. Also, for my usuage I need the 30 dollar plan which doesnt come with caller id or anything (may have changed by now, its been a while since I left). I went to T-mobile over a year ago and I've never looked back, better plans, better service, better phones and better deals. The coverage isn't anywhere near what alltel gives you, but at the same time I dont experience all the problems alltel customers do (call and get another state, all circuits are busy and Im in a small town-pop 500) and it fits where I live and ...

who calls and gets another state? I know I do not and I have been with alltel for a while and have sold them longer. Never had a customer complain about that problem.

I'm pretty sure it's just something in my area, its been happening over something around 5 months. I can call an Alltel Customer from a landline phone and get someone from places like Savannah, not a different state, sorry about posting that earlier. I think it has stopped now, and been replaced with "All circuits are busy now" which is much much better, I hate getting a stranger and having to say wrong number when it's not my fault, lol.

I thought I'd share my two cents worth since I send both of these carriers checks every month for service. I live in Kansas and I have to say that Alltel tends to exaggerate about their coverage area, they don't always have service where they claim. On the other hand, in places where I don't have tmobile signal i can most likely do a network search on my phone and find another network tower that tmobile has a roaming agreement with. (Tmobile)
However, when it comes to using my phone inside a building I feel like a CDMA signal can usually get a better signal.(Alltel)
As far as customer service goes, there is just no comparison from my experience.(Tmobile)

Alltel has really surprised me!! My whole family and my Father's business use Alltel. We have 12 phones seperated into 3plans with add-a-lines. The plans are reasonable, the customer service has always been great, and the reception is incredible. I know that one guy said that Alltel didn't have much of a home coverage area but I disagree, Especially once they acquire Western Wireless. I know they will have service in atleast some 33 states. That's not bad for not being one of the top dogs. I would go with Alltel!!

ok i have an unbiased opinion on this issue cause i work for alltel and i have tmobile...first off gsm is way better than cdma could ever be especially with the advent of the sim card. Not to mention caller tunes (the best feature ever) My national plan covers me anywhere i go and i have never had an instance where i have not been able to get service...although i do line in manhattan, ks and all the towers here were put up by wwc cellone (now part of alltel) so service really isnt provided by tmobile...As far as customer service goes it is what you make of it as it is with every company...if you listen to what the person has to say and can understand it then PAY your bill and you will get great customer service any where you go...Lastly tmob...
