I just got done talking to the rep in Northeast arkansas and they said that the new V710s woudln't work in my area. Why would you release a phone that woudln't work in most areas?????I dont understand and is there anyway around this?

I have a Motorola T720 that will only receive a Cingular, analog, out of network signal in San Antonio. My wife's LG5450 does great there. At least your rep clued you in! I can't get any help from Alltel, or Motorola, and tech support gave up on trying to find an answer (3 times).

Sounds like tech support needs to delete your roaming VLR off of the cingular towers so you can reregister. This is assuming you have a up to date PRL.
Other problems could in include a defective handset, in which case you are sol until you get back into an Alltel area.

I am a very satisfied Cingular customer but when I heard that Alltel was getting the v710 I thought that it was to good to be true; and it was. Alltel doesnt have highspeed data in a lot of areas still. I live in south west Missouri and the Alltel rep told me the same thing. This is the same reason why everyone in my area who has an Alltel camera phone cant send pictures. I switched to Cingular almost a year ago and the advantages drastically out weigh Alltel's. plus Cingular offers better phones at better prices than Alltel. You can get the v710 and it would work in your area you just wouldnt be able to use the advanced features that it provides at least that is what the Alltel rep in my area told me.

V710 Will work fine as a phone in your area. You will be able to send pictures, but very slowly, you will have to have the phone set to QNC. The phone is supposed to only be released in High Speed Data areas. Littlerock would probably be the closest area to you.

I am not sure what thread i read this on, but i remember once hearing someone saying to wait untill about mid January for the new service of the v710. Northeast Louisiana said mid-jan as well, but it is now the middle of february. Our stores won't even realease the phone untill their networking problems are complete. Does anyone have a more current idea on when these networking problems will end.
